Several cities and at least one state have declared Sept. 25 "Dolly Parton Day," noting the numbers nine two five make up those of one of the singer's most popular hits. While no legislation has been passed in Illinois, the city plans to "unofficially" celebrate the holiday. Meanwhile, places like California have legally declared Sept. 25 "Dolly Parton Day," with SB-931 being passed on Sept. 1. Across Chicago, businesses and organizations are taking part in honoring the country music icon with specialty offerings of $9.25.
