Columbus City Council assisted with neighborhood leaders to cleanup storm damage on the South Side near Parsons Ave. COLUMBUS, Ohio — Severe weather is leaving a trail of damage across Ohio — from downed trees and power outages to flooding and property damage. Communities are now beginning the cleanup, and on Columbus’ South Side, neighbors and city leaders are working together to help those hit hardest. Severe storms have torn through communities across Ohio, leaving behind widespread damage. Here on Columbus’ South Side, neighbors are coming together to assist cleanup and help each other recover. “We’re just here to help our community clean up all this devastation and just too much. We all need to come together and help,” said Sherry Ruckman, a Columbus community member.

Columbus City Council partnered with neighborhood leaders and community members to tackle storm damage across the South Side. “We’re right here on the South Side, with one of the hardest-hit or impacted parts of the city just to make sure they’re okay,” said Shannon Hardin, President of Columbus City Council. The damage is especially severe near Parsons Avenue, where residents said they’re struggling to recover. Hardin said the city is working to provide more relief and prepare for the next storm. “The storm may have moved on, but the impacts have not,” Hardin said.
