A Houston teen was charged Friday with capital murder — a charge that in Texas carries the possibility of the death penalty — after authorities say he fatally shot a 34-year-old man during a meet up to sell property. Anthony Castro, 17, was arrested and charged with capital murder Friday afternoon, court records show. The fatal shooting occurred Sept. 13, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said on X. Castro allegedly met Victor Gonzalez at a location in North Harris County on the premise of selling property, Sheriff Gonzalez said. The suspects allegedly robbed Gonzalez and fled in their vehicle, according to Sheriff Gonzalez. The teen has no criminal history in Harris County, records show. Gonzalez called police after the meetup to report he had been robbed, and that he was following the suspects in his own vehicle, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. During the call with emergency dispatch, Gonzalez reported he had been shot in the 600 block of John Albers Road. Gonzalez was pronounced dead the scene.
