The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said to expect traffic delays in the area of US-1 North and Las Calinas Blvd due to a crash with injuries. All northbound lanes of travel are shut down. ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A 73-year-old woman was killed and a 38-year-old woman was seriously injured Friday in a crash at U.S. 1 and Las Calinas Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash involved a pickup truck and a sedan. FHP said the pickup was traveling south in the left-turn lane on U.S. 1 north of Las Calinas Boulevard, while the sedan was traveling north in the left travel lane south of the intersection.

The pickup driver, a 16-year-old boy, failed to observe the approaching sedan while attempting to turn left, FHP said. The front of the sedan struck the right side of the pickup. The 73-year-old woman, a passenger in the sedan, later died at a local hospital. The sedan’s 38-year-old driver was seriously injured.
