Illinois Route 53 bridge in suburban Palatine closed for emergency repairs  NBC 5 Chicago

The bridge along Route 53 was subsequently closed in both directions, and Palatine Road below Route 53 was also closed. A portion of Illinois Route 53 in suburban Palatine was closed on Sunday evening for emergency repairs, authorities said. Illinois State Police Troop 3 said at around 7 p.m., Route 53 at Palatine Road would experience closures due to emergency barrier repairs on the bridge.

The bridge was subsequently closed in both directions, and Palatine Road below Route 53 was also shut down. The village of Palatine said updates on when the roads will reopen will be shared on its Facebook page.
