Capital Tonight wanted to hear what a fellow attorney and former federal prosecutor thought of the debate. The two candidates for state attorney general, Democratic incumbent Letitia James and Republican challenger Saritha Komatireddy, sparred during an hourlong debate on Spectrum News 1 on Thursday. Political analysts have weighed in on each candidate’s performance. Capital Tonight wanted to hear what a fellow attorney and former federal prosecutor thought of the debate. Michael Koenig is an attorney with more than three decades of experience.

He’s currently a partner in the New York City law firm of Friedman Kaplan, as well as a former federal prosecutor at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Koenig spoke with Capital Tonight’s Susan Arbetter about how the work of the attorney general must be done “without fear or favor,” but that getting elected to that office takes political skill.
