Expect Road Closures Across Philadelphia for the Philly Bike Ride This Saturday 92.5 XTU
Philadelphia residents and visitors should prepare for significant traffic impacts this Saturday as the Philly Bike Ride 2026 takes over city streets. The annual car-free cycling event gives riders the opportunity to explore Philadelphia by bike while supporting the Bicycle Coalition of Philadelphia, but it will also bring road closures and transit detours throughout much of the city.If you're planning to drive through Philadelphia on October 17, it's important to know that roads along the bike route will be closed to vehicle traffic, and SEPTA bus service on numerous routes will be detoured until approximately 1:45 p.m. Routes impacted include the 2, 4, 7, 9, 12, 16, 17, 21, 23, 27, 31, 32, 33, 38, 40, 42, 43, 44, 45, 47, 48, 49, 57, 61, 76, 124, and 125.
Commuters are encouraged to check SEPTA alerts before traveling and allow additional time to reach their destinations. For those participating in the ride, SEPTA recommends public transportation as one of the easiest ways to get to the event. Riders can access the start area through nearby Metro stations, including Race-Vine Station, while Regional Rail customers can conveniently exit at Suburban Station. These transit options help cyclists avoid traffic delays and parking challenges that often accompany large city events.Participants traveling from New Jersey also have a convenient option.
