Halloween shoppers expected to spend record $13.5 billion Spectrum News
A national survey predicts that 2026 will break records. TEXAS — Despite the scary reality of rising costs, an annual national survey estimates 2026 will be a record-breaking year for Halloween spending. Spectrum News checked in with customers at a Houston-area costume store to see just how haunted they were by the price tags on this year’s holiday items. Inside Danny’s Trix & Kix in Spring, Texas, north of Houston, there is a year-round operation selling costumes for all occasions that dates back 50 years. “We were established in 1976 in Spring, Texas, Feb. 1. It was on a Sunday that year, which is kind of odd for opening a business,” said Danny Gurganus, the store’s owner.
“Our forte is we are the professionals of disguise. We are a true costume store.” Longtime and new customers are welcome to the enormous selection of items. “Danny’s is amazing. They always have things that other places don’t usually have,” said Lacy Noe, who was shopping for Texas Renaissance Festival and Halloween attire. Ariyah Glaze said she plans to dress up as a killer clown and found the perfect costume. “I usually get all my costumes from like Amazon or whatever, but I like how they have the makeup palettes and then they have different types of sections for different people,” she said.
