Police are also reminding residents and visitors to avoid leaving weapons or valuables inside vehicles, particularly where they are visible. ATLANTA — Atlanta police are preparing for a busy weekend as several major events bring increased activity to the city over the next few days. The Atlanta Police Department says officers are gearing up to provide additional security for events including the G-20 foreign ministers meeting, the Georgia-Florida football game, the Google Developers Conference, the WNBA Finals and Halloween celebrations. Halloween activities will include parades, festivals and trick-or-treating throughout the weekend. APD officials say additional officers will be on patrol, while others will be reassigned to provide an increased police presence at the various events.

Although the department is not releasing specific deployment details, officials confirm that enhanced security measures will be in place. Police are also reminding residents and visitors to follow the department’s Clean Car Campaign by avoiding leaving weapons or valuables inside vehicles, particularly where they are visible. Authorities are encouraging anyone who notices suspicious activity to report it to police. WSB Radio’s Ashley Simmons & Michelle Wright contributed to this story.
