Pantex hosted an event for area students competing to find solutions in national security challenge. AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Pantex hosted an event for area students competing to find solutions in national security challenge. In its fourth year, student teams were at Pantex today for its Innovation Challenge finals. Each team selected a real-life issue Pantex is attempting to solve and was given a mentor to help teams innovate a solution. “At Pantex, we believe the next great innovation may come from a student sitting in a classroom right here in our community,” said Brenda Dillard, Pantex Innovation Challenge facilitator. “We want to inspire young minds to think boldly, apply emerging technologies, create the solutions of tomorrow and help protect our nation’s future.

Participants also have a unique opportunity to interact with Pantex employees, gain valuable insights into the world of national security and discover exciting career opportunities.” Engineer and Innovation Challenge mentor Matt Reyes said Pantex recognizes the immense talent and creativity of students throughout Texas schools and universities. Three teams were selected as winners in the final competition and received cash prizes. The first place winner was Clean Break of Texas Tech University, winning $10,000. The second place winner was Diamond Deterrence of Texas Tech University, winning $6,000. The third place winner was Sixth Sense of Texas A&M
