Houston-area cities rank among best places to retire Spectrum News
For a second year in a row, The Woodlands and Spring ranked among the top five best places to retire in the country. TEXAS — For a second year in a row, The Woodlands and Spring, north of Houston, ranked among the top five best places to retire in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report. A spokesperson for the digital media company said they looked at more than 850 U.S. cities to see which ones are ideal for retirement. Erika Pratt says she and her husband knew right away that The Woodlands was the perfect place for them to retire. They bought their home there in 1989. “A family member said, ‘Go check The Woodlands.
Everybody’s saying how pretty it is,’” Pratt said. “We came to The Woodlands, and we loved it.” Years later, she joined several neighbors to launch the nonprofit Aging in Place — The Woodlands. “We give rides to those who cannot drive anymore and need to go to doctor’s appointments, and then we have socials, because living in your house by yourself, you need the socials,” said Pratt. U.S. News & World Report released its 2027 Best Places to Retire, and out of 250 cities in the country, The Woodlands and Spring ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
