Retired math professor charged after wife, an airline meteorologist, found shot dead: cops

A retired math professor was charged after allegedly killing his wife, who was an airline meteorologist.

Police said officers responded to a home in Fair Oaks, Virginia, and found 60-year-old Chisen Jameson suffering from gunshot wounds. She had called 911 before the shooting, and officials said sounds consistent with gunfire could be heard in the background of the call, according to FOX 5.

64‑year‑old Leland Jameson was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Leland Jameson is a former professor at George Mason University and got his Ph.D. from Brown University.

Leland Jameson placed his own call to 911, reporting a domestic dispute with his wife and saying he didn’t know how badly she was hurt.

Multiple firearms were found inside the home, officials said.

Chisen Jameson was a meteorologist for Japan’s All Nippon Airways at Dulles Airport.

The airline said in a statement it is heartbroken by the loss of Chisen Jameson.

“All Nippon Airways is heartbroken by the loss of our colleague. She was a valued member of our team and her passing has deeply affected everyone who knew and worked with her,” a spokesperson for Japan’s All Nippon Airways said.

The couple has two grown sons, both of whom also live in Northern Virginia.
