Man found dead in South Austin front yard; death unrelated to homicide one hour earlier  KEYE

Austin police are investigating the deaths of two men killed less than an hour apart early Wednesday, but they say the cases are not connected. Officers responded at about 3:51 a.m. to a high-priority call about a shooting or stabbing in the 200 block of Virtus Bend in South Austin, said Officer Aaron Townsend. Officers arrived within minutes and found a man with "obvious trauma to his body" in the front yard of a home, Townsend said. Officers tried to give him first aid, and paramedics continued lifesaving efforts, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not identified the man or said how old he was. Townsend said investigators had not yet examined the body and could not say whether he had been shot or stabbed.

The people who live at the home are cooperating with investigators and were being interviewed by homicide detectives, Townsend said. Police have not named a suspect or person of interest. Townsend said the death is being investigated as a homicide but that the classification could change as detectives learn more. "Right now, there is a deceased person," he said.
