Man shot to death at southwest Atlanta apartments; school lockdowns lifted  Atlanta News First

Police said they are investigating a deadly shooting at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex Wednesday afternoon. ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Police said a man was shot to death at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after 1 p.m., Atlanta police responded to the shooting at 320 Fairburn Road SW, the address for Country Oak Apartments in the Fairburn Mays neighborhood. There, officers found a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fulton County Medical Examiner identified the man as 25-year-old Victor Gray. Benjamin E. Mays High School, West Manor Elementary School and Jean Childs Young Middle School were placed on exterior lockdown “out of an abundance of caution,” said a spokesperson for Atlanta Public Schools.

The lockdowns were lifted as of 2:40 p.m. The district spokesperson said all students and staff were safe, and that dismissals would continue as normal. Police said the shooting was an isolated incident that resulted from a “dispute between known parties.” They are now searching for multiple suspects. Police have not released descriptions.
