Paxton May Still Need To Win Over Some Republicans. How Does He Do It?  News Radio 1200 WOAI

We’re just over a month away from the 2026 primaries, and one of the hottest races of the cycle, the Senate race, is about to enter its most contentious few weeks, as both Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico try to push themselves across the finish line. Many polls still show Talarico maintaining a slight lead over Paxton, including a recent poll from Texas Southern University, which shows Talarico up by just 1 point. What’s even more shocking about that particular poll is it shows that just 84% of Texas Republicans are committed to supporting their party’s nominee. Texas GOP Chairwoman D’Rinda Randall believes that gap can be closed by highlighting Paxton’s record, especially over the last several years.

She told me that “Ken Paxton is the most effective attorney general in the country. He has earned our vote by the work that he’s done.” Randall went on to say that, ironically enough, highlighting James Talarico’s record in the Texas House will also help Paxton gain ground. “In his own voting record, he’s against the oil and gas industry, and against children having vouchers to go to a good school,” she said.
