Cleanup is underway after a nor'easter brought heavy rain and strong winds that toppled trees in several neighborhoods. A nor’easter that battered New York City over the weekend is slowly winding down, but its impacts varied widely across the five boroughs. The storm began Saturday and continued through Sunday, with rain, gusty winds and coastal flooding lingering into Monday morning. The worst flooding was concentrated in neighborhoods along the water, including Hamilton Beach, Howard Beach and Broad Channel in Queens and South Beach on Staten Island. In Hamilton Beach, steady and sometimes heavy rain Sunday flooded parts of the neighborhood. Red cones were placed along 164th Avenue near 104th Street to warn drivers away from areas where vehicles could become stuck.

Many residents said they prepared ahead of the storm because of the neighborhood’s history of flooding. “I moved my car, this one car, all the way up the block, 'cause we went through Sandy down here and we know what high tides are like,” Hamilton Beach resident Laura Werner said.
