Storms and heavy downpours are developing in San Antonio on Thursday due to a slow-moving front, an upper-level low and moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Polo. SAN ANTONIO – Storms and heavy downpours are developing in San Antonio on Thursday due to a slow-moving front, an upper-level low and moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Polo. Street flooding is the main concern in urban areas, while we will closely monitor creeks and streams. A flood watch is in place through Friday. Bexar County emergency officials are urging residents to prepare by checking flood risks at home and work, and along daily routes. The Bexar County Office of Emergency Management said people should know whether their home, workplace or commute is in a floodplain.

Officials also encouraged residents to plan ahead in case low-water crossings become dangerous or are closed. “Make sure you’ve got a way to get emergency alerts,” said Michael Morlan, deputy chief with Bexar County OEM. “Make sure your phone’s turned on for those emergency alerts.” Morlan said planning a route in advance can help drivers avoid low-water crossings if water begins flowing over roads. “We want to make sure that you’re avoiding those low-water crossings if those do get closed or water does flow over those roads,” Morlan said. “We want to make sure that you’re
