‘It’s insane’: Cole Kmet has an important message for Bears fans NBC 5 Chicago
With the Bears playing yet another game at Soldier Field this weekend, Cole Kmet has a message for hometown fans — and it's an important one. CHICAGO, IL – SEPTEMBER 8: Tight end Cole Kmet #85 of the Chicago Bears stretches prior to an NFL football game against the Tennessee Titans, at Soldier Field on September 8, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. (Photo by Todd Rosenberg/Getty Images) The message stems from a situation the team faced during Monday night's win over the Eagles. Fans got so excited, Kmet said players had a hard time hearing each other on offense. “P.S.A. to the fans: They need to be quiet when we’re on offense,” Kmet told the Chicago Sun-Times.
“It is ridiculous. It’s insane. I appreciate the energy, but take note from Minnesota how quiet it is when their guys are on offense.” Kmet said he tried signaling fans at the game, but it didn't stop the roar. He said he appreciates the enthusiasm, and encouraged fans to bring that same energy when the team is on defense, but noted it can hinder the team's offensive communication. Fans are encouraged to "make noise" during defensive plays at the stadium, but announcements are often made asking fans to keep it down during offensive plays.
