The 2027 Best Colleges for Veterans rankings highlight 10 schools where military-connected students can explore education benefits and support.The 2027 Best Colleges for Veterans rankings highlight 10 schools where military-connected students can explore benefits and support. A college can look excellent on paper and still leave a veteran struggling to sort out benefits, transfer credits, housing, or the shift back to civilian classrooms. That is why the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges for Veterans” rankings deserve a closer look than the numbers alone. In the 2027 National Universities category, the University of Chicago ranks first, followed by Cornell. Brown University and Washington University in St. Louis tie for third; Princeton is fifth; UC Berkeley and UCLA tie for sixth.

Yale is also confirmed at No. 10. Those placements account for eight schools. To give veterans 10 useful options without guessing at the unverified eighth and ninth places, this article also includes two schools that rank first in their separate regional veterans categories: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Embry-Riddle’s Prescott campus. They are labeled separately below. The rankings are a starting point.
