Suspicious Bag Found At San Diego Airport Deemed Safe Patch
Police said the bag was removed from the public area of the airport and taken to a non-public area for inspection. SAN DIEGO, CA — A "suspicious" bag left at a San Diego International Airport baggage claim was deemed safe after several hours Saturday and air travel was not disrupted, according to authorities. Hazardous materials units and bomb arson teams from the city and county of San Diego responded at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to a bag that was left unattended in Terminal 2, according to Lt.
Paul Ashton of the San Diego Harbor Police Department. "We always inspect baggage that's left behind before turning it over to the lost and found," Ashton told City News Service. "We found a unique substance inside the bag and wanted to have it inspected further." Ashton said the bag was removed from the public area of the airport and taken to a non-public area for inspection. Air traffic was not disrupted and passengers were not affected at the airport, according to Ashton.
