YouTube Masthead Ads Open to Online Casino Operators Oct. 21 Play USA
YouTube will allow certified online casino operators to run Masthead ads starting Oct. 21. Here’s who qualifies and what rules apply. YouTube will start accepting homepage Masthead ads from certified online casinos and other online gambling advertisers Wednesday, Oct. 21. Until now, the placement was open to sports betting brands. The change comes through an update to Google’s Gambling and Games Advertising Policy. The Masthead is one of the platform’s most prominent ad placements, which makes it attractive to advertisers who want to reach large audiences at once. Under the update, online gambling operators will qualify alongside sports betting brands. Google has not said whether the option applies equally in every market, SCCG reported.
That eligibility can vary significantly by country, gambling product and local licensing rules. Operators will need to build campaigns that meet those rules before the first ads run. Advertisers must be certified under Google’s Gambling and Games policy and comply with all applicable legal, geographic and age restrictions, Search Engine Land reported. They must also meet Google’s requirements in each jurisdiction they target and obtain the relevant Google Ads certification. Approval depends on the gambling category, local regulations and licensing rules. The expansion does not cover everyone. Advertisers promoting online gambling who are not subject to mandatory state or national gambling registration remain excluded. SCCG added
