NYC officials push flu shots as season gets underway  Spectrum News NY1

Dr. Alister Martin, commissioner of the city’s Department of Health, joined “Mornings On 1.” As temperatures drop and flu season gets underway, New York City health officials are urging residents to get their annual flu shots. The city’s Health Department says that every year, between 1,500 and 2,000 New Yorkers die from the flu or pneumonia. The Health Department recommends flu vaccination for everyone ages 6 months and older, saying the vaccine significantly reduces the risk of hospitalization and death.
