Jake Cooper’s attempted clearance ricocheted off Waddingham and into the net in the 82nd minute to settle an error-strewn contest. Jenson Metcalfe had put the visitors ahead early on after a mistake from the Portsmouth goalkeeper, Nicolas Schmid, but it was quickly cancelled out by Lyndon Dykes’s own goal. Patrick Bamford was injured in the act of scoring Sheffield United’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw with 10-man Derby at Bramall Lane. Bobby Clark gave the visitors a first-half lead with Bamford levelling the scores in the 79th minute, only to go off after falling awkwardly. Norwich halted a six-match losing streak with a 3-1 comeback win at Charlton to ease pressure on their head coach, Philippe Clement.
