According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, at 7:39 p.m., officers were called to East 38th Street North Drive and North Tacoma Avenue on the report of a pedestrian being struck. Police say 63-year-old Adrian McCloud of Carmel was driving when he hit another man, later identified as 64-year-old Aaron Pittman Sr., who was crossing the street.
Pittman was taken to the hospital in “extremely” critical condition and died on Sunday, according to IMPD. Police say the incident was originally reported as a hit-and-run, but McCloud stopped near Keystone, about a block away, after hitting Pittman. McCloud was detained on scene and was taken to the hospital, where he had his blood drawn. Police say he has been arrested on the preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing catastrophic injury.
