A new thrift store in the mountains is using donated goods and turning them into free groceries. Inside Goodpeople Thrift, people from all over were searching through the items to find things they need, but this time for a different cause. The thrift store may appear like any other in the mountains, but this one is run entirely to help people. Marty Button was inside the store when she found the perfect stuff for her son’s bedroom. She said when she learned the store was opening, she knew the concept was something she had to be a part of. “I think it’s amazing the community has come around and wanted to donate in any way they can to support families that are still in need of food and supplies after the storm and, just in general, for the community,” Marty Button said.

The store takes donated items and turns them into food. Every penny that the thrift store makes goes back into purchasing food that goes onto the shelves at Foscoe Home Team. Those items are distributed at no cost. “Hopefully this will promote awareness, and so when people have things they are not using and they have the opportunity to donate for a cause for the other,” Button said. Charles Kilpatrick came from South Carolina. He loves thrift stores,
