Arlington city leaders cast vote for municipal organization leader amid concerns about incumbent Fort Worth Report
Arlington council members voted after information surfaced about Mary Sarver, who has served as Region 8 Texas Municipal League director for two years. Arlington leaders voted Tuesday evening to name Aubrey City Council member Mike Browning to the Texas Municipal League’s board of directors. The resolution to nominate Browning to the post comes after the Denton City Council last week delayed its vote on the matter, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle. Denton council members cited an Oct. 13 email from a former law enforcement officer that revealed previous criminal charges against Browning’s opponent, incumbent Mary Sarver. Sarver, who is also the mayor pro tem of Grandview, was charged with two counts of Medicaid fraud in Johnson County, according to the email.
She later pled no contest to those counts and had been previously indicted on a charge of criminal attempt injury to a child. Arlington Mayor Jim Ross addressed the allegations against Sarver in an afternoon work session prior to Tuesday’s council meeting. ✨ Getting the full story takes timeIt also takes all of us.
