Dallas County Joins Nationwide Operation Green Light for Veterans Initiative Raccoon Valley Radio
Dallas County Joins Nationwide Operation Green Light for Veterans Initiative To honor the commitment and sacrifice of military veterans transitioning from active duty to civilian life, Dallas County has joined a nationwide effort to show its solidarity and support. As part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, led by the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, participating county buildings and landmarks across the United States are illuminated with green to recognize veterans and raise awareness about the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels. During its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Dallas County Board of Supervisors passed a proclamation that formally declared November 4-11, 2026, as “Operation Green Light for Veterans Dallas County.” Read the full proclamation here.
The Dallas County Courthouse on the Adel Public Square Historic District will also be lit in green during this weeklong tribute. “With Veterans Day just around the corner on November 11, we would like to highlight the sacrifices and service of our Veteran community,” said Dallas County Veterans Affairs Director Nick Praska. “Residents, business owners, and community organizations are encouraged to participate in this awareness campaign by changing one light bulb to green, helping our veterans know that they are valued, appreciated, and safe.” Dallas County is home to over 4,000 veterans.
