A Fort Worth ISD school is temporarily relocating students to another campus because of engineering concerns in its building. The district confirmed that students and staff at South Hi Mount Elementary School are moving to the vacant building at the former Western Hills Primary. South Hi Mount is on Birchman Avenue on Fort Worth's west side.
Students and staff are moving to the temporary building about five miles away, farther west off of Interstate 30 and Cherry Lane. According to a letter to families from the school's PTA, the school made the decision as a precautionary measure following an on-site engineering assessment and recommendation. They say the school has cleared the affected part of the building while it determines next steps. No return date was given, but the note told parents the school would make a decision in the coming weeks. According to a statement on the South Hi Mount Elementary PTA Facebook page, a parent meeting is planned for Monday, Nov. 9, in the school cafeteria
