Beach hazards statement for Los Angeles County beaches from Friday to Tuesday  Los Angeles Daily News

Catalina/Santa Barbara Islands, Malibu, Los Angeles County Beaches, Santa Barbara County Southwestern Coast and Santa Barbara County Southeastern Coast were placed under a beach hazards statement by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 2:56 p.m. The statement is valid from Friday 4 a.m. until Tuesday Nov. 10, at noon. “Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to elevated surf up to 4 to 6 feet expected,” according to the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA. “High tides of 7.2 to 7.6 feet (MLLW) are expected each morning. Surf and coastal flooding impacts peak on Monday, when it is possible that a Coastal Flood Advisory is need.” “There is an increased risk of ocean drowning.

Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. Pooling of sea water is possible around high tide at beach and harbor areas that is uncommon with normal tidal ranges. Enhanced beach erosion is also possible,” the NWS said. “Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.” For more local weather alerts, visit our Weather Advisory page This article was generated by software that analyzes National Weather Service warnings and advisories and creates
