Superstar entertainer Bruno Mars brought “The Romantic Tour” to Colorado Springs over the weekend, packing Falcon Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, and by most accounts, the singer/songwriter brought the house down. But after the performance, many attendees spent more time in their cars than they did at the concert due to major traffic gridlock that left thousands of vehicles at a standstill for hours. Beginning early Sunday, social media practically overflowed with frustrated posts about families falling asleep in their vehicles as they waited, attendees not getting home until the middle of the night and concertgoers pledging never to attend another event at the Air Force Academy venue.

“Loved the concert, but never going back,” said a TikTok user named Jess. “Great venue for a great concert, (but) horrible planning and traffic control,” said Shilly, who said he did not get to his home in Castle Rock — about 30 miles to the north — until after 1 a.m. Sunday. Courtney Bartlett, who attended the concert with her daughter on Saturday, made a point to arrive early and stayed until the performance ended at about 10:30 p.m., she said. “Our seats were relatively close to the parking lot, so we got to our car pretty quick,” Bartlett told The Gazette. “We were one of the first cars out of our
