BAE Systems Unveils New Sea Tridon Family of Naval Guns Israel Defense
British defense firm BAE Systems has unveiled a new series of naval guns specifically designed to counter airborne, surface, and shore-based threats at the Euronaval defense exhibition in Paris. According to the company, each of the three configurations features unique characteristics tailored to meet the operational needs of modern navies worldwide. Unveiled at Euronaval in Paris, the three-variant series derived from the Bofors 40 Mk4 is designed to counter airborne, surface, and shore threats. According to a report in Breaking Defense, Lena Gillström, President of BAE Systems Bofors, stated in a press release that the maritime threat landscape is rapidly evolving, creating a growing need for flexible and effective defense solutions.
The new gun family is derived from the company's Bofors 40 Mk4 naval gun, whose initial development began over 15 years ago. She noted that through the Sea Tridon series, navies and maritime operators can select the operational capability level best suited to their needs while benefiting from a common platform, field-proven technology, and advanced programmable ammunition. The series comprises three primary variants. The first is the baseline Sea Tridon, which integrates a 40mm Bofors gun with an integrated electro-optical fire control system, which the company says will ease integration onto new platforms. The second is the Sea TridonC, a containerized version of the Sea Tridon gun; various militaries
