Bob Harvie wins election in PA’s 1st Congressional District, unseating Fitzpatrick thereporteronline
Bucks County Commissioner Bob Harvie’s victory ends nearly a decade of Brian Fitzpatrick’s representation in Congress. Democrat Bob Harvie has defeated Republican U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick in the race for Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District, denying the five-term incumbent a sixth term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Harvie, a Bucks County Commissioner, challenged Fitzpatrick in a closely contested race that drew national attention as Republicans and Democrats competed for control of the House. The district encompasses all of Bucks County and a portion of Montgomery County stretching from Horsham to East Greenville. Fitzpatrick, first elected in 2016, recently won reelection in 2024 against Democratic challenger Ashley Ehasz. Harvie’s victory flips the seat to Democratic control after nearly a decade of Fitzpatrick’s representation, contributing to Democrats’ successful effort to reclaim the U.S.
House majority. In a Facebook post, Harvie thanked voters and supporters for helping elect him to Congress. “THANK YOU to every single person who made this win possible — whether you knocked doors, made calls, donated your time or money, YOU made this win possible for a better future in our communities. We can make a real change, now let’s get to work,” said the post. According to current unofficial results from the Bucks County Board of Elections, Harvie received 187,965 votes, while Fitzpatrick received 168,447 votes. In Bucks
