Common Defense endorses Tom Perriello for U.S. Congress in Virginia's 5th District, backing his record fighting for veterans and against forever wars. Washington, D.C. — Today, Common Defense, a grassroots organization of veterans and military families, announced its endorsement of Tom Perriello for U.S. Congress in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District. Naveed Shah, U.S. Army veteran and Political Director at Common Defense, released the following statement: “Tom Perriello spent his career working on the front lines of trying to end some of the world’s hardest conflicts. As veterans, we know the real cost of a failed foreign policy, of gutting the state department, and we need leaders in Congress who understand that cost before sending someone else’s kid into harm’s way.
