Waymo will serve about 60 square miles across Denver during its initial rollout, the company said in a news release. The service area spans from the Cory-Merrill to North Washington neighborhoods and Villa Park to City Park. The company said the zone includes neighborhoods, such as downtown Denver, Cherry Creek, Sloan’s Lake Park, Central Park and most of the city’s major sports venues like Coors Field, Ball Arena and Empower Field.
Waymo will initially not operate on freeways, a company spokesperson said. Denver International Airport, which is a major market for ride-hailing, is not yet included in Waymo’s service zone, according to a map provided to The Denver Gazette. The public rollout will start with “dozens” of cars in Denver, according to Waymo.
