(Atlanta News First) — Isaias is now a major Category 3 hurricane with 120 mph winds in the central Gulf. Showers will start in north Georgia as early as tonight. Hurricane Isaias has strengthened with 110 mph winds, about 200 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi. Isaias will approach the middle Gulf coast today with a landfall expected late tonight or early Saturday.
We’ll see cloudy skies in north Georgia with wind gusts up to 20 mph. Today will be dry. Showers will start moving into north Georgia after 7 p.m. tonight, impacting areas south of I-20. While you’ll be impacted if you’re headed out late tonight, the showers will initially be light. We’ll see scattered rain throughout the entire day on Saturday with heavy rain at times.
