It was a wet, crummy Sunday. But the week ahead looks promising NBC New York
How much rain could we see Sunday? Most in the tri-state will only get an inch or two spread out across the entire day. Sometimes it feels like we can't get a weekend without a bit of rain. This one was no exception. What started out quite nice, actually, turned into a wet and downright soggy close to the weekend. Saturday's nice autumn weather cleared out for nearly relentless rainfall. You can blame the remnants of Hurricane Isaias for that. It could have been worse. While the rain was constant, most parts of the tri-state averaged around an inch of rainfall for most of the day — meaning that flooding, for once, was not a serious threat.
There was a flood advisory issued in New York City around dinnertime for heavier bands of rain. Rain was expected to taper off overnight with a few lingering showers possible early Monday morning. Any continuing showers Monday morning should have a minimal impact on anyone commuting for the holiday. Once the skies clear, Monday afternoon brings about sunshine and temperatures in the low 70s. Another isolated rain chance comes Tuesday evening before Wednesday sets up a return for some warm and muggy weather.
