JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jax River City Pride celebration is scheduled throughout the weekend, featuring a parade, after-party and festival with live entertainment and family activities. Jacksonville City Council member Jimmy Peluso will serve as grand marshal of the Pride Parade, which begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Willow Branch Park. The 1.5-mile parade will travel to Riverside Park through Jacksonville’s Riverside, Avondale and Five Points neighborhoods. The route includes Park Street, King Street, Post Street, Stockton Street and Margaret Street. Organizers describe the parade as family-friendly and open to all ages.
An after-party is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 1059 Park St. The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Riverside Park. The festival’s kid zone will include self-portrait activities, story time, a kids dance party, rainbow arts and crafts, games and prizes, a hair, paint and glitter runway show, a bubble party and a last dance activity. Parade staging begins at 9 a.m. for large buses, floats and billboard-type entries. All other participants may begin staging at 11 a.m. Staging ends at 12:30 p.m., and the parade will begin promptly at 2 p.m.
