From where to cast an early ballot to deciding on local and statewide candidates, here's your Long Beach voter guide. LONG BEACH, CA — Election Day is Nov. 3, but mail-in ballots are already arriving in Long Beach as Californians prepare to elect a new governor, choose representatives in Congress and the state Legislature and decide 14 statewide ballot propositions. Closer to home, Long Beach voters will weigh in on congressional and legislative races, a community college trustee contest and two Los Angeles County charter amendments addressing public safety labor disputes and government ethics. The races appearing on individual ballots will depend on where voters live. The city held its municipal primary June 2, when Mayor Rex Richardson, City Auditor Laura Doud and candidates for five City Council seats secured majorities, settling those contests without November runoffs.
California Secretary of State Shirley Weber encouraged voters to return their ballots early. “Voting in California is secure, reliable, and part of California's tradition of encouraging participation in our democracy,” Weber said. “I encourage Californians to return their completed ballot as soon as possible, using one of several safe and secure options available to them.
