The full closure is needed to rebuild two old bridges and keep a 30-inch water main connected. “It’s going to be messed up for months and months,” said driver Victor Johnson. Crews will have Fairburn closed to all but local traffic from Benjamin E. Mayes Drive to Cascade Road, with the posted detour taking traffic all the way inside the Perimeter, over Interstate 285, to Lindhurst Drive to get north and south. “That can’t be happening. That’s just totally impossible. I travel this road all the time. 285 is already messed up and this is the alternative to 285. Why?” said
