A manhunt is underway for an assault suspect after he ran away from a traffic stop in Pickens County on Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office. ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A manhunt is underway for an assault suspect after he ran away from a traffic stop in Pickens County on Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies are searching for the man, identified as Barry Young, in the Hinton area, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post. Young has warrants for aggravated assault “and other serious felony charges,” deputies said. He has reportedly been seen in the Mullinax Road area. “Residents in that area will be seeing heavy law enforcement activity,” deputies said.
The sheriff’s office did not include a picture of Young in its announcement, but described him as a white man, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and 195 pounds with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and ball cap. K-9 units and drones have been deployed for the search. Deputies said Hinton-area residents should remain alert, secure their homes and vehicles, and avoid approaching anyone matching Young’s description. “If you see Young or have information regarding his whereabouts, DO NOT APPROACH. Contact 911 immediately,” deputies said. This is a developing story. Check back with Atlanta News First
