HOUSTON – A woman accused of shooting and killing her 4-year-old daughter before turning the gun on herself Tuesday has died. The Houston Police Department says the 35-year-old woman was pronounced dead at a hospital on Wednesday. The woman had been hospitalized in critical condition. At the time, police said she was expected to survive. The shooting happened Tuesday on the third floor of a home located at 322 Terra Reserve Place. Officers responded and found the mother and child each suffering from a gunshot wound. The child died at the scene while the mother was transported to a hospital where she later died.
On Wednesday, family members identified the child as Vivian Savella and said she was “loved without limit”. At the scene Tuesday, police said there had been a child custody hearing earlier in the day involving the mother and child. The family confirmed in a statement that a judge had placed Vivian in her father’s primary care.
