Multiple tornadoes confirmed from Sunday storm system Spectrum News
The remnants of Isaias produced a destructive line of storms that crossed the state, prompting dozens of Tornado Warnings through the day. Residents and municipal workers worked Monday to clean up after a line of severe storms, including at least 13 confirmed tornadoes and three rated EF2s, drove east across the state on Sunday. The storm system was produced by the remnants of Hurricane Isaias, which made landfall Friday night in the Florida Panhandle before moving north. At least four deaths were linked to Isaias, the first hurricane of the Atlantic season. The National Weather Service has confirmed 13 tornadoes touched down in North Carolina. Residents in a northeast Raleigh neighborhood were clearing debris Monday.
The EF1 tornado that struck Sunday had maximum winds of 100-110 mph, the NWS said. Safa Rahall is counting her blessings. The mother was at home with her family Sunday when the storms struck. Their fence was gone, and their roof was damaged. “Totally different,” Rahall said about her yard after the storm. “I am looking at it sad, but at the same time thankful because we are safe. Everything was very quick, but very, very scary, like you cannot describe it. Everything was super dark.” Block after block, roofs were covered with tarps, plywood replaced holes in homes and trees were blown over. Yolanda
