A man fell to his death while running from police at a West Midtown apartment building Tuesday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said. ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A man fell to his death while running from police at a West Midtown apartment building Tuesday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said. They said the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office was executing a search warrant at the Westbound at the Works apartments along Chattahoochee Avenue. Deputies were attempting to find Genesis Denton, 32, of Chicago, who was wanted on murder charges outside of Georgia. Deputies inside the building knocked on the door of the apartment Denton was in, prompting him to move toward a balcony.

Officers outside the building shot at the balcony door, but Denton went to the balcony, climbed over the railing and fell to his death, the GBI said. “Sometimes there’s an accident on the street, but nothing to this magnitude. Then we see the news trucks, and I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’” Natalia Lee said. Lee and her husband were met with a dozen police officers when they arrived to work across the street. “I’m thinking, ‘Oh man, what happened?’ Like, do they have kids? Does their family know?” said J.R. Lee, who works across the street.
