TEXAS — From TV screens to mailboxes, politicians have bombarded Texans with ads and flyers all election season. But starting Oct. 19, Texans can officially start making their voices heard. If you’re wondering if you can register to vote, sadly, it’s too late. That deadline was last Monday, but millions of Texans have already registered this year. According to the Texas Secretary of State's website, as of March of this year, more than 18 million Texans are registered to vote. To compare that to the last midterm election back in 2022, that number was more than 17 million Texans. "So, for the presidential election. We did close to 63,000.

So, you know, 40, 50,000 people somewhere in that range would be my guess for Rockwall County," said Chris Lynch, Rockwall County elections administrator. So, we're seeing more than 1 million more Texans registered this midterm than four years ago. Lynch said his office saw a major influx during last Monday's deadline. "Lots of increased foot traffic here on Monday was the last day to register to vote, and it trips me out when we had like over 250 people coming
