According to a report from PennLive, State Rep. Aaron Bernstine made comments about Philadelphia state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta — the first openly LGBTQ+ person of color elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly — in a crowded McGrath’s Pub. Michael Ford, the secretary/treasurer of the Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council, got into a verbal confrontation with Bernstine as the latter made comments about Kenyatta and Robert Blair, the president of the Building Trades Council.
Blair was sitting at a nearby table but was not part of the conversation. Kenyatta, who declined to comment, was not present at the bar.
