In an emotional plea posted to her Instagram account, Savannah Guthrie appealed directly to whoever is responsible for Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping, saying that her family is “in agony” and “will never stop looking for her.”

“I’m coming on today with a very specific message. It has been months since our mom was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation has changed. We have done our part, and we will never stop looking for her. We will always ache for her and feel that hole in our hearts. The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place,” Savannah Guthrie said.

“And I know that you have tried to do things the right way. So I’m asking you, begging you to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end. For all of us. No matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done, I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice.”

The family is asking anyone with information to dial 1-800-CALL-FBI and claim a reward of over $1 million. 

There is also a separate reward for information that leads to an arrest that can be obtained anonymously by calling 520-88-CRIME, Tucson’s Crime Stoppers affiliate.

The elder Guthrie, 84, was taken from her home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills neighborhood in the early hours of Feb. 1, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

I figured it died years ago given you literally never hear about it anymore, but I was wrong. Remember when the ESPYs were appointment viewing a decade ago? Growing up, I can remember watching it every summer. It was fun and exciting and filled the sports-less mid-July void.

Way back in the day, Jim Valvano gave his iconic “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up” speech at the ESPYs. To this day, it’s still one of the greatest speeches of all time. Look it up later if you have a minute. Trust me, you’ll be better for it.

Anyway, we’ve gone from that to what ESPN pumped out last night — a three-minute opening dance show performed by the Savannah Bananas that may just be the worst thing ever shown on ESPN airwaves.

And that’s saying a lot given this is the same company that once ran a minute-long promo featuring transgender swimmer Lia Thomas during Women’s History Month.

Just brutal. I’m not trying to dump on ESPN or the Bananas here. If the reaction to this performance was great, I’d pen an article saying the internet loved it.

The internet, however, did not love this. They HATED it. It’s all over my timeline this morning. Frankly, it’s how I even knew the ESPYs were still a thing!

Again, I hadn’t heard one single word of this year’s ESPYs show until this morning, and I work in a business where it’s literally my job to be ahead of the trends. No marketing. No advertising. No hype.

Nothing, until I scanned social media this morning and saw the Bananas doing … whatever it was they were doing … for three minutes.

Anyway, I assume someone said something woke at some point last night. Feel like that’s in the ESPN and ESPYS script at this point, right? It’ll come out eventually, I’m sure.

Until then, here’s a clip of some comedian I’ve never heard of rag-dolling Tiger Woods, which was just a brutal delivery and reception:

Chicago White Sox rookie outfielder Tristan Peters was named to the American League All-Star team to replace Nick Kurtz, who recently landed on the injured list.

Peters recorded the White Sox’s first cycle in nine years, finishing it off with a triple down the right-field line in his final at-bat.

He doubled in the third inning and hit an RBI single in the fifth before collecting two more hits in the seventh — a two-run homer to center field and an RBI triple. Peters became the seventh player in White Sox history to hit for the cycle and the first since José Abreu in 2017.

His path to the majors has been anything but conventional. Peters spent time with the Savannah Bananas five years ago after playing at Southern Illinois University. During his stint with the Bananas, he was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the seventh round of the MLB Draft.

Peters was traded three times before reaching Chicago. The Brewers dealt him to the San Francisco Giants at the 2022 trade deadline, and the Giants sent him to the Tampa Bay Rays three months later. After spending three seasons in the Rays’ farm system and making his MLB debut with Tampa Bay, Peters was traded to the White Sox this past offseason.

Peters made the White Sox’s Opening Day roster entering what many expected to be another difficult season for the South Siders after the club lost a combined 324 games from 2023 through 2025. Instead, Chicago is tied for first place in the American League Central, and Peters has been a major reason why.

This season, Peters is hitting .303 with an .841 OPS and 20 doubles.
