Vance questions whether Pentagon will livestream execution of Fort Hood shooter

JD Vance was among a bipartisan group of politicians expressing concern and doubt over a Pentagon plan to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan. Nidal Hasan is shown at the Bell County Jail in Belton, Texas, April 9, 2010. (Bell County Sheriff’s Department/AP) Vice President JD Vance was among a bipartisan group of politicians expressing concern and doubt over a Pentagon plan to livestream the execution of the former Army officer who killed fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas. “I don’t know that that’s actually going to happen,” Vance said Friday while taking questions from the press. He was responding to comments Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the Pentagon made Thursday announcing that the Dec.

3 execution of Nidal Hasan would be available for the public to watch through a livestream. Hasan, an Army major and psychiatrist, opened fire in the early afternoon at Fort Hood’s Soldier Readiness Processing Center on Nov. 5, 2009. Witnesses said he shouted “Allahu akbar,” which is Arabic for “God is great.” He was found guilty of killing 13 people and injuring more than 30 and sentenced to death in a court-martial in 2013. Hasan, now 56 and paralyzed from the waist down, is scheduled for execution by firing squad at 1 p.m. Central time on Dec. 3 at Fort Hood, according to a memo
