Maj. Gen. Turinetti relinquishes command of CECOM at Aberdeen Proving Ground

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. (Sept. 10, 2026) — Maj. Gen. James D. Turinetti IV relinquished command of the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command during an official ceremony Sept. 10, 2026, at the Myer Auditorium at APG. Lt. Gen. Gavin A. Lawrence, deputy commanding general and acting commander of U.S. Army Materiel Command, presided over the ceremony, which marked the conclusion of Turinetti’s tenure as the 18th commander of CECOM and senior commander of APG. During the event, Command Sgt. Maj. Jay High passed the CECOM organizational colors to Turinetti, who then passed them to Lawrence, symbolizing the formal relinquishment of command and the transfer of authority over the 9,000-person global enterprise. Lawrence commended Turinetti for leading a transformative chapter in CECOM’s history, highlighting his emphasis on speed, digital modernization, and data-centric decision-making across the Army’s command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance and medical sustainment infrastructure.

Lawrence detailed several major initiatives launched during Turinetti's command, including the CECOM Transformation Initiative, which generated more than 220 workforce-driven projects ranging from artificial intelligence-assisted maintenance to forward battery assembly and low-code/no-code software development.
