Two men are facing charges after a violent road rage incident in a Douglas County school drop-off line led to a stabbing. Two men are facing charges after a violent road rage incident that began in a Douglas County school drop-off line. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office recommended multiple charges against Jacinto Lois Herrera, 39, and John Larranaga, 45, stemming from an August altercation in which two people were stabbed. According to police records, Herrera and Larranaga were involved in a dispute on Aug. 13 at about 7:34 a.m. The confrontation began after a traffic collision in the drop-off line at Cresthill Middle School. Following the crash, both men left school property and drove across the street.

A school resource officer responding to the scene found Herrera on top of Larranaga. The officer separated the two men, recovered a knife and provided medical aid to Herrera before paramedics arrived. Responding officers later discovered a second injured person. That individual told officers Larranaga was sprayed with pepper spray and, while attempting to stab Larranaga, stabbed the other individual. Both men gave officers conflicting accounts of how the altercation began and the sequence of events. Each claimed to have acted in self-defense and accused the other of initiating the physical confrontation. Following a weekslong investigation, the sheriff’s office recommended charges against both
