Henrietta, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Disabled American Veterans Chapter offered a helping hand to veterans. The organization is donating new passenger vans to the Finger Lakes VA Healthcare System. MORE: Army veteran receives life-changing gift of a donated vehicle The vehicles will help provide free transportation for ambulatory veterans in the area attending medical appointments. “We are absolutely thrilled; we wanna be able to fill this gap and ensure that veterans get the care they need,” said Gina Deck, the chief of civic engagement of the VA of the Finger Lakes. “Veterans don’t come to the VA because they’re feeling great; we want them to leave better.” The organization says it is still looking for drivers for the new vehicles.
